Friday rites in Nevada set for Clarence New
Services for Clarence New of 1212 Fourth Street, Nevada, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
Mr. New died Monday morning at Mesa, Arizona where he was vacationing with his wife. He was born January 31, 1894 at Chenoa, Ill. the son of William E. and Flora New and has been a resident of Story County for the past 75 years.
Feb. 9, 1916 he married Lulu Handsaker in Nevada who survives him along with his son, Horace W. New of Nevada; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Granger of Appleton, Wis., six grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Harry E. New of Nevada; and a twin sister, Mrs. D. T. Swanson of Nevada. His parents preceded him in death.
The deceased was a member of Nevada Lodge No. 99, A.F. and A.M. He was a progressive farmer who was actively engaged in farming until his death. He also had been a carpenter and builder and at one time managed the Fernald and Nevada Livestock Shipping Association. He was a livestock buyer and trader in this community during the 1930's and 40's.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.
