Last Rites For Mrs. Margaret Moran Held on Sunday

Last rites for Mrs. Margaret Moran, 312 K avenue, who passed away at Mary Greeley hospital on Thursday were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada.

Rev. J. D. Ransom, pastor of Central Presbyterian church of which the deceased had been a long time member, officiated at the last rites, closing the simple but impressive service by reading the very appropriate poem "Crossing the Bar" followed by prayer.

Organ music was played preceding and at the close of the service.

The many beautiful flowers which surrounded the bier bespoke the affection felt for the deceased who had lived her entire life in Nevada.

The pall bearers were Carl Stone, H. M. Vinsel, Russell Golly, M. R. Purkhiser, Claude L. Moran and F. C. Tarman.

Obituary

Margaret Murphy, daughter of Henry F. and Margaret Palmer Murphy, was born January 22, 1863 in Nevada, Iowa. She attended the local school and has lived her entire life at Nevada. At the time of her death she was probably the oldest native-born resident of the community.

On January 18, 1888 she was united in marriage with William Moran. To this union was born one son, Frank.

Mrs. Moran had been a member of Central Presbyterian church for over 58 years -- the longest time of any of the present members. She was always optimistic and cheery. Even in recent days, while in the hospital as the result of a recent fall, she was in good spirits, her mind and memory were good and her hearing normal.

Although feeling the effects of age she was in fairly good health and even the recent fall did not seem like a serious injury. She slipped away in her sleep Thursday, October 28, 1948, at the age of 85 years.

She leaves to mourn he passing, her son, Frank, other relatives and many friends.
