JOHANNES S. JOHNSON

STORY CITY -- Funeral services for Johannes S. Johnson were held Tuesday afternoon, March 4, at 2:00 p. m. from the Immanuel Lutheran church, Story City with the Rev. Harold T. Masted officiating. Mrs. Benjamin Anderson sang a special number.

Pallbearers were B. W. Jacobson, Paul Johnson, Thomas Naig, Victor Lura, Milford Johnson and Curnie C. Larson.

On Wednesday, March 5 the body was taken to Ihlen, Minn. for burial, where services were held in the Lutheran church in the afternoon with the Rev. L. A. Wogan officiating. Burial was in the Ihlen, Minn. cemetery.

Life Sketch

Johannes S. Johnson was born in Stusvik, Norway on April 2, 1868. He came to the United States with his parents the same year and they settled in Story County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

On Jan. 8, 1903 he was united in marriage to Gurina Belland. After residing in Story county for two years, they moved to a farm in Pipestone, Minnesota in the year of 1905.

Four children were born to this union, two sons and two daughters. He is survived by Clifford of Ihlen, Minn., Herbert of Vassalboro, Maine and Beatrice Chenowith of Story City.

He was preceded in death, on Dec. 14, 1912 by his wife, and a daughter, Ruth who died in infancy. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

For the past twenty years he has made his home in Story City with his daughter, Beatrice, where he died March 1, 1958 at the age of 89 years and eleven months.
