Obituary Of John N. Johnson

STORY CITY -- John N. Johnson, son of Nels and Ane Johnson, was born in Jylland, Denmark, on June 7, 1864. He passed to his eternal reward at Nevada, Iowa, last Monday evening, December 10th at 5:35 o'clock.

He came to America with his parents in 1871, and they settled on a farm south and east of Story City, Iowa. Later they moved to farm at Lafayette Center in Lafayette Township.

On June 25, 1890, he was united in marriage to Amanda J. Cameron at the home of his bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Cameron. Rev. Yerger of the Evangelical church performed the ceremony.

Together the couple set up house keeping on the farm west of Story city. On the same farm they lived together for more than 60 years, until June 9, 1950, when his health began to fail. It is indeed a rare privilege to have so many years of life together as husband and wife.

To this union three children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving are one son, Guy Johnson south west of Story City, an Mrs. Lenora Ask of Story City. There are also one grandchild, Merrill Ask, three brothers, Martin N. of Story City, Charles C. of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Julius N. of Omaha, Nebr. One sister, Mrs. Annie Matheason, preceded him in death only last June.

May the God comfort and sooth the sorrowing hearts; and, whether, young or old, may all of us prepare out hearts for the time when we too shall be called.

Funeral

Funeral services were held Friday, 1:30 at the Funeral home and at 2 o'clock form the Grace E.U.B. church with Rev. W. D. Winter officiating. George W. Sowers sang two selections. Mrs. Everett Anderson served at the organ. Interment was in Center cemetery.

Pall bearers were Jay Born, Lars Raymond, Arthur Goodmanson, Tony Sparboe, LaVerne Smith and Grant Johnson.
