MILDRED LENA HAMBERG
Mildred Lena Hamberg, 84, died Wednesday, March 19, 1986, at Story County Hospital, Nevada IA.
She had been a resident of the Collins-Maxwell area and had more recently been a resident of Long Term Care at Story County Hospital.
Mrs. Hamberg was born Aug. 23, 1901, at Iowa Center IA to Sam and Ida (Ray) Coughenour.
She was married to Nels W. Hamberg April 17, 1949, in Nevada. He died in 1979.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Fern Cook, and a brother, Roy Coughenour.
Survivors include a brother, Harold Coughenour; a nephew, Gary Coughenour of Collins IA; two nieces, Marilyn Erickson of Minneapolis MN and Salley Keangley of Rockwell City IA.
Mrs. Hamberg taught school in Colo and Marshalltown IA for 29 years.
She was a graduate of Nevada High School and Drake University. She was a member of the Nevada Christian Church and a long time member of Dalton Aid Society. She was active in the Retired Teachers Assn. of Marshalltown.
Memorials may be sent to Nevada Christian Church of Long Term Care Ministry at Story County Hospital.
Funeral services were at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell Saturday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery at Iowa Center. Rev. David Vernon officiated.
