Funeral Services For Magnus Horniss [sic] Friday

Funeral services for Magnus Luther Horness were held Friday at 1:30 p. m. from the home and 2 o'clock at the Grace E. U. B. church with the pastor, W. D. Winter in charge. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Luther Matson, Mrs. John Adduci, Kenneth Peterson and George Sowers sang two numbers "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Marlys Johnson accompanied at the organ. Interment was made in the Story City cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews of Mr. Horness.

Obituary

Magnus Luther Horness, son of Nels and Martha Horness, was born on September 27, 1897, southeast of Story City, Ia. It was in this location in the farming community where he grew to young manhood.

On October 22, 1919, he was united in marriage with Beulah Oswald. Together they established a home on the farm. To this union was born four children, two girls and two boys, all of whom are living. After farming for some 14 years, the family moved into Story City in 1933, residing there until death, wheich borke the family circle last Tuesday, May 22.

Mr. Horness was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church of Story City. Later, he transferred his membership to Grace Evangelical United Brethren church were he continued his membership until his death.

He suffered a severe stroke and Tuesday, May 22 he passed away. He was 53 years, seven months and 25 years old.

Surviving ar his widow, four children, Mrs. Dorothy Jacobson of Story City, Mrs. Gladys Davis of San Francisco, California, Ervin, a gunners mate 3rd class and stationed at Long Beach, Calif. and Duane of Story City; three grandchildren, Paul and Katherine Jacobson and Richard Davis; a sister and brother, Mrs. George Lee of Iowa Falls and Haaken Horness of Story City; two step brothers, Soren Sorenson and Elmer Sorenson of Boone and one step sister, Mrs. Henry Childers of Roland.
