Carrie Edwards is dead at the age of 90, was teacher here for years

Miss Carrie B. Edwards, a teacher in the Nevada school system for more than 50 years, died Sunday evening at a Rochester, Minnesota nursing home at the age of 90.

She had been a patient at the home for three years.

A native of Harrson County, Miss Edwards was born November 12, 1877. She taught in Nevada starting somewhere about 1900, attaining the Junior High Principalship during her career and was much beloved in the community. She retired in 1953, Nevada's centennial year, and the community honored her with a party and gifts at the time.

She was a 50 year member of the Nevada Eastern Star.

Survivors include a nephew, Ralph Edwards of Rochester, Minn., and great niece, Mrs. Howard Stewart of Rochester, Minn.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services will be held from the United Methodist Church in Nevada Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Azel Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
