Hold Final Rites For Andrew Bickelhaupt

Funeral services for the late Andrew Bickelhaupt were held Thursday afternoon, July 8, in the Grace E.U.B. church in Story City, the Rev. W. E. Ulrich officiating. Burial was in the Center cemetery, southwest of Story City.

Andrew Bickelhaupt, son of Henry and Mary Bickelhaupt, was born on the Bickelhaupt old home place in Lafayette township, Story county, Iowa, Sept. 1, 1873. He lived on this same section of land the greater part of his life, moving to Story City in July of 1946. After gradually failing in health, he became more severely ill and was taken to the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames on Sunday, June 26, where he died on July 4, 1949, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and three days.

On August 31, 1932, he was united in marriage with Marie Baker Hill, who passed away in August 1941. On December 19, 1945, he was married to Zella Wiggin Larson, who survives his death.

Others who survive are two sisters, Mrs. Christ (Rosa) Nelson of Story City and Mrs. Martha Jensen of Clarion, and one brother, Henry Bickelhaupt, of Story City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Laura and Tillie, and two brothers, Peter and August.

Andrew Bickelhaupt was baptized in the German Lutheran church at Monroe, Iowa, former place of residence of his parents. In 1933, he joined the Grace Evangelical United Brethren church of Story City, under the pastorate of Rev. C. L. Fuller.
