Story City Boy Is Killed

Dennis Larry Alsager, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Alsager of Story City, was dead on arrival at an Ames hospital following a crash at 7:35 p.m. Saturday.

Kenny Luane Hovick, driver of the 1964 Ford in which Alsager was a passenger, and Charles Obe, 18, of Ellsworth, driver of the other car, a 1965 Buick, were injured.

Hovick, whose car was hit at the intersection of Highway 69 and County Road D, was given two tickets and his father one for the infractions of driving regulations which were allegedly involved.

The two tickets to Kenneth Hovick were for failure to yield the right-of-way and violations of the instructor's permit, while the father's ticket was for permitting a minor use of the car under the conditions.

The Hovick car was going east of the county road and Obe was going north on Highway 69 when the crash occurred. Obe sustained a broken leg, while Hovicks injury was a cut on the head. The accident was approximately a half mile north of Story City.

Funeral services for the dead youth will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, with Rev. Quentin Quanbeck officiating. Burial will be in Story City cemetery. Both the dead youth and Hovick are sophomores at Story City Community School.

Dennis is survived by his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Tjernagel and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Alsager, Story City. The body will be at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home at Story City until noon Tuesday.

The Saturday night accident was one of four in Story County over the weekend.
