NEVADA TOWNSHIP MAN BURIED TODAY

JOSIAH GARLOCK HAD BEEN FAILING IN HEALTH FOR 15 YEARS

Funeral services for Josiah Garlock, 72, longtime resident of Nevada township, who died at his home six mile southeast of Nevada Monday evening, was held this afternoon at Mt. Zion church southwest of Maxwell, following brief services at the home at 1:30. Interment ws in the Mt. Zion cemetery.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. L. T. Olson of the Nevada Evangelical church, assisted by Rev. Charles Pickford of Nevada and Rev. LaFavre of the Mt. Zion church.

Mr. Garlock had been a sufferer for many years. It was in 1915 that he suffered a slight paralytic stroke from which he had been afflicted since. Of later years other complications had set in and he had been confined to his home for the past several weeks, where he had been tenderly cared for by his wife and other relatives.

Josiah Garlock was born Sept. 9, 1858 in Mahoning county, Ohio, and passed away at his home south east of Nevada, Dec. 8, after having attained the age of 72 years 2 months and 29 days.

When he was 8 years old, together with his parents he migrated to Iowa and settled on a farm about 6 miles southwest of Maxwell, known as the Garlock homestead. Here he grew up to manhood. On the 23rd day of January 1896, he was united in marriage to Julia Margarett Kopf of Nevada, Iowa. They made their home at the old Garlock homestead for 18 years. In the fall of 1915 they move to their present home 6 miles southeast of Nevada.

Mr. Garlock was converted at the Mt. Zion church southwest of Maxwell. In 1896 he, together with his wife joined this church. Prior to his affliction he was a regular attendant of this church.

He was a member of the Win One class of Sunday school of the Evangelical church at Nevada.

He leaves to mourn his wife, one brother, Wm. Garlock of Cambridge, and four sisters Mrs. Kate Applegate of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Amelia McKim of Des Moines, Mrs. Anna Troup and Mrs. Alice Link of Maxwell, together with a large number of friends and relatives.
