Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

M. Burton Drexler, 91, passed away on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at Bickford Senior Living in Ames. He was a professor emeritus of Theatre at Iowa
State University.

Malcolm Burton Drexler was born December 27, 1925 to Herman & Esther (Lipches) Drexler in Brooklyn, NY. In 1952, He moved to Ames in 1952 to take a post in Speech and Theatre at Iowa State University, then part of the English department, and remained for the rest of his life. He married Ruth Goldburg in 1957 and had one son Marc Drexler.

Burt was heavily involved in theatre in Ames. He was a long time member of ACTORS and Playmakers, and he served on the board of the Old Creamery Theatre Company. He was a great collector of many antiques, and his Wedgwood collection can be seen at the Brunier Gallery. After retirement he frequently taught classes at the College of Seniors. He was a member of the Ames Jewish Congregation since the early sixties.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his ex-wife and devoted friend, Ruth Drexler.

He is survived by his son Marc Drexler, of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Burial will be at Mt. Neboh cemetary in Brooklyn. A memorial service in Ames will be scheduled at a later date. Service information is pending.
