Aric William Hoogerwerf, 37, of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Nevada.

Aric was born July 28, 1979, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Michael John Hoogerwerf and Rebecca L. Robinder. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1997 and attended DMACC. Aric was united in marriage to Dru Stoeffler on November 30, 2010, in Ames. He worked for Tim’s Amoco in Ankeny and Central Iowa Towing. Aric enjoyed snakes and had volunteered with Unbreakabull Bullies, a Pitbull rescue where he adopted his beloved dog, Zeus.

Aric is survived by his wife, Dru of Nevada; his son, Skylar Hoogerwerf of Hobart, OK; his daughter, Sidney Hoogerwerf of Hobart, OK; his mother, Rebecca Sander of Moline, IL; his brother, Brian Nickell of Moline, IL; his sister, Dawn Gooch of Columbia, SC; and his paternal grandmother, Barbara Hoogerwerf of Atkinson, IL.

Aric was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandfather; and his maternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 2 p.m. until service time. Cremated remains will be placed in the columbarium at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Aric.
