Death of Mrs. Phoebe Ashford.

Mrs. P. A. Ashford,, widow of the late L. M. Ashford died at her home four miles east of Nevada, Wednesday evening. Her death came quite suddenly after a somewhat protracted illness. Funeral services will be held at the family residence at half past one Saturday provided her son Will F. Ashford of Washington reaches here tomorrow morning as expected.

OBITUARY

MRS. PHOEBE A. ASHFORD.

Mrs. Phoebe A. Ashford, wife of the late Thomas M. Ashford, who resided east of Nevada, Iowa, died suddenly after a long illness, on Wednesday evening, February 20, 1907, at ten o'clock, aged 75 year and 6 days and was buried at Nevada Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Phoebe A. Hoffstoll Ashford was born at Calcutta, Columbia county, Ohio, on February 14, 1832, and spent her girlhood and early married life in the home where she was born. She with her husband and family moved to Nevada, Iowa, in 1880, where she has since resided. She early in life united with the old Long's Run Presbyterian church at Calcutta, Ohio, and when the family settled in Iowa joined the Central Presbyterian church in Nevada. She was the mother of five children, three of whom survive her, William F. of Washington, D. C., Genio B. of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, and Miss Mary who resides at home. She also leaves six grand children and a sister, Miss Hannah J. Hoffstott, who resides at the Ashford home. She was a good mother a true Christian and a loyal neighbor and friend.
