OBITUARY

DEATH OF MRS. J. M. MAXWELL

The suffering of Mrs. J. W. Maxwell of the village of Maxwell is ended. She quietly slept her life away on Wednesday last at 7:15 p. m. aged nearly 68 years. No apparent suffering the last day. The funeral will be held at her home on Saturday at two p. m. and burial in the Maxwell cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell had been a resident of this place and Iowa Center for over forty-five years and was best known and respected by all the old settlers. She had been an invalid for the past five years and had suffered more or less during that time. Four weeks ago she fell in her room and fractured her left hip since which time she was a great but patient sufferer and her rapid decline was noticeable each day. She was married to J. W. Maxwell forty-nine years and eight months and was looking forward with great anticipation to the celebration of her golden wedding in August. She has been a member of the M. E. church for over fifty years and was also a member of Annie Lauris chapter O. E. S. and of Jeptha degree lodge I. O. O. F.

Mrs. Maxwell whose death is briefly recorded above was known and beloved by a wide circle of friends, not only in her own village home, but throughout the county. She possessed a pleasing personality, an active and sympathetic mentality, and in the days of her young, mature and vigorous womanhood took an active and helpful interest in all matters that promised the up-building and betterment of the community in which she lived. The world is the better for her life of service and good will. The editors of the Representative, who have known and esteemed her for a quarter of a century, join the many friends Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell [torn off] condolence to the [the clipping is torn off here]
