OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. S. B. Frey

Lottie May Montgomery was born June 26, 1867 in Woodford county, Illinois, and died at her home in Milford township, Story county, June 20, 1908 at the age of 41 years and 12 days She was married to Sylvanus B. Frey December 14, 1887, at El Paso, Illinois. She leaves her husband, two children, Frank aged 19 and Mary aged 17, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Montgomery of Nevada and three brothers, Charles, Arch and Frank, besides her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Frey of Ames, and countless friends and neighbors to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Frey was a woman of estimable character, always thoughtful for the comfort of others, leaving nothing undone that could add to their welfare and happiness. Her home was her kingdom, where all felt the influence of her love and counsel, and the charm of her hospitality. In her last hours she tried to cheer her loved ones telling them she was free fro pain and not afraid to die, because she had done unto others as she would that others do to her, and that was her religion. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. She joined it when a girl of 14 years and from that time, until the day of her death honored her profession in word, deed and life. She left loving messages for all and especially for the beloved husband who is in France and who could not be with her at the last, he having gone there before she was taken sick. She was ever a faithful wife and loving mother and her loss will be long felt by the entire community.

"The blessing of her quiet life
Fell on us like the dew;
And good thoughts where her footsteps pressed
Like fairy blossoms grew.

"Sweet promptings unto kindest deeds
Were in her very look;
We read her face, as one who reads
A true and holy book;

"The measure of a blessed hymn,
To which our hearts could move;
The breathing of an inward psalm;
A canticle of love."

The funeral services of Mrs. Frey Tuesday at 1 p. m. and will be conducted by Rev. A. M. Eliott of Ames. The interment will take place in the Nevada cemetery.
