Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Phyllis B. Barnes was born August 4, 1922 to Cleo A. and Mary (Brodie) Bond in Benson, Minnesota. Phyllis graduated from Gilbert High School and received a nurses aid certificate from DMACC. She worked in the neonatal ward at Mary Greeley Hospital for four years. Phyllis and Roland Barnes were married May 1, 1942 in Ames. Phyllis was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ames.

Phyllis passed away at 94 years of age on September 15, 2016 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Thompson of Kelley; her son, Ronald Barnes of Grey Court, S.C.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, LaVonne Barnes of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland Barnes; and her son, Richard Barnes.
