MRS. M. J. HEGLAND DIED SUNDAY

Former Roland Young Lady Called by Death.

A message came to relatives here Monday morning conveying the sad news of the death of Mrs. M. J. Hegland of Rosseau, Minn. She died Sunday morning.

Seldom has it been our duty to record a death where it would seem to the human eyes when a mother would be so sorely needed to care for her little children. She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways, so that friendship's circle was to her a large one. It may truly be said of her that all who knew her learned to love her.

Mrs. Hegland was born August 14, 1881 at Nevada, where she spent her youth, but moved with her parents to Roland, where she grew to womanhood. On Dec. 28, 1905, she was married to M. J. Hegland. They moved to Minnesota, where Mr. Hegland engaged in his profession as an attorney. At the time of Mrs. Hegland's death, April 27, they were living at Roseau, Minn., where Mr. Hegland is enjoying a lucrative law practice.

To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth is ended, and we confidently trust, like one who wakes from a troubled dream, she has awakened to see life's endless morning break, and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones missed from earth, safe about her. Her home instincts were strong. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. She ranked always as a woman of culture, refinement and sympathy, a devoted mother and a true friend. Josie is still the mother of the dear children upon whom she doted with such clinging fondness and the companion still of him who mourns earth's greatest loss; and may she not by this very transition wield over them a stronger force for goodness and truth than ever before.

She leaves to mourn beside the husband, her four children, Hazel 12 years, Maxine 10 years, Helen 9 years and Lyl 6 years; her father; Mr. E. P. Bell; three sisters, Mrs. E. Jondahl, Mrs. Faye Bell Wilson and Mrs. Obed Sandven; and one brother, Floyd Bell.

The body was brought to Roland on the 7:30 train last evening and the funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the East church. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
