from the Roland Record Dec. 30, 1926 - McCallsburg column:

Mrs. Wesley Springer is staying at the H. C. Springer home for a few days helping to get the work done up for Mr. Springer.
The funeral of Mrs. H. C. Springer was held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. J. R. Browne officiating. The following were pallbearers: Andy Thompson, Bert Baumgardner, Will Tott, Crim Gunder, W. H. Reid, and Jake Nelson. Interment was made in the cemetery south of town. Alta Sopronia Kent was born in Rockville, Ill., November 30, 1858 and died December 22, 1926, at her home in McCallsberg, being 68 years and 22 days old at the time of her death. She was the youngest of four children of Charles and Mary Kent and the last of the family to part to the better land. In 1875 the family moved to Story County, Iowa, and she attended school in Nevada , graduating there and attended Normal school, fitting herself for a teacher. She taught from 1877 to 1887. She was married to H. C. Springer November 28, 1888 at Nevada. To this union six children were born, two dying in infancy. The husband and four remaining children and five grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a good wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her family, the grandchildren the same as her own children. The children are Howard of Lytton, Wesley of Nevada, Homer and Vernie Johnson of this place. They all loved her in return as did other relatives and her many friends. She was so sweet and wonderful throughout all those weeks of suffering, never complaining, but always thinking of the others who cared for her. Everything was done for her that loving hands could do. She will be greatly missed in the home, Sunday School, Church and community.
Mrs. Emory Thompson of Bricelyn, Minn., came Thursday night to attend the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Springer. She will be remembered as Sadie Corry, formerly of the place.
