Obituary.
Jennie M. Sparrow was born in Perrysville, Vermillion Co., Ind. May 23d, 1841. She died at Zearing, Iowa January 11, 1894. She was the youngest of the family of Mr. and Mrs. William Sowers. Only two sisters survive her. When Jennie ws one year old her parents moved to De Kalb county, Illinois where she grew to womanhood and was married to Mr. Ephraim Sparrow, January 23d, 1863. She was the mother of eight children, two of whom preceded the parents to the spirit world. Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow moved from Illinois to Sherman township, Story county, Iowa, Oct. 24th, 1873. There she resided until the death of Mr. Sparrow last April, thence at Zearing, the place of her death. She was converted to the Christian faith in 1878, and joined the Evangelical church, living a faithful Christian til life's close. She died of apoplexy. She arose last Thursday morning seeming in usual health, but was soon seized with severe pain in her head which presently removed to her back and heart; and death resulted in less than an hour. Her last words were, "Good bye, God bless you." The funeral services were conducted in the Evangelical church at Zearing January, 13th, by Rev. A. L. Golden, and the unusually large attendance indicated the high esteem in which the departed was held by friends and neighbors. The church has lost a good Christian worker, the community a good neighbor and the children a loving mother. Her place in the home and church is now vacant, but a mansion in heaven heretofore vacant is now filled. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of the entire community.--A. L. G.
For all sympathy and kindness from friends and neighbors the children of Mrs. Sparrow hereby express thanks.
