Editor Clark Dead.

E. W. Clark, editor of the Ames Monitor died last Friday night after an illness of three weeks beginning with hemorrhage of the lungs. Mr. Clark came to Story county about seven months ago from Beardstown, Ill. bringing with him a young wife*, and established the Monitor. He secured in this short time the personal goodwill of his cotempories and of the public, and a fair share of support. He was yet a young man and was of estimable character; and the sympathy for his wife will be great. His funeral took place at Ames on Monday. We are not advised as to the effect which his death will have upon the conduct of his paper.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: E. W. Clark's will is on file in the Story County Clerk of Court's office. His will names his "beloved wife" as Alice G. Clark. E. W. Clark and Alice G. Bradbury were married on April 22, 1885 in Morgan County, Illinois.
