FRANK H. SHENKLE Marshalltown Frank H. Shenkle, 71 died Tuesday evening, May 11, 2004 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Funeral services will be 1:30p.m. Friday from the Central Christian Church with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Flag Folding Ceremonies will be provided by the Frank Lewis Glick Post of the American Legion. Friends may call at the Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home on today from 5 to 9 p.m. with family being present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House or Iowa River Hospice Building Fund.
He was born April 21. 1933 in Marshall County the son of William and Orva Beals Shenkle. Reared and educated in the St. Anthony area, he graduated from the State Center, High School in 1950. He then attended the Central Iowa Business College. In 1953 he joined the U. S Army and served in France, being discharged in 1955. He returned to Marshalltown and began working at Fisher Controls Company; at his retirement in 1992 he was an order entry clerk. Frank’s memberships include the St. Anthony Christian Church of which he was a life time member, the Frank Lewis Glick Post 46 of the American Legion and the Fisher 25 year club. Surviving are seven sisters and one brother, Frances (Mrs. George Rowe) of Marshalltown, Berneice (Mrs. Glenn Brownfield) of Marshailtown, Mildred (Mrs. Lowell Spence) of Marshalitown, Mrs. Jean Day of Marshalltown, Arlene (Mrs. Willard Cripps) of Marshailtown, Shirley (Mrs. Richard Nicholson) of Marshalltown, Sherry Meier of Ames and John Shenkle of Shenandoah, IA. Also surviving are numerous neices and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters. The Des Moines Register May 13, 2004
