James E. Wright
Feb. 13, 1926-June 8, 2000James E. Wright, 74, of Zearing, died of complications of pneumonia on Thursday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. The body has been cremated and memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing with the Rev. Lynn Gunderson officiating. Interment will precede the service at 10 a.m. Monday at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
James E. Wright was born Feb. 13, 1926, near West Bend to Ervin James and Edith (McKim) Wright. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Mary Dean Fanning on Feb. 25, 1951, in West Bend. He farmed east of Nevada for 33 years before moving to Zearing in 1994. he was a mechanic at Donnelley Marketing, retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada and Nevada Township trustee for several years.
He is survived by two sons, Edmond Wright of Zearing and Marvin Wright of Roland; one daughter Linda Wright of Zearing; three grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Rustan of Albert Lea, Minn., and Donna Porter of Fort Dodge, and one brother Kenneth Wright of Rolfe.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established for the Zearing First Responders.
