EVA PAUL
Eva Arthur Paul, 70, of Nevada died Friday, Oct. 22, 1982 at Story County Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1911 in Nevada the daughter of Dr. Silvester and Mathilda Byers Arthur, and graduated from Nevada High School with the class of 1929. She was a 1933 graduate of Iowa State College, majoring in home economics and applied art.
On March 4, 1935, she married Elmer J. Paul at Nevada. The couple farmed north of Nevada.
In 1951 she was chosen queen of the International Flying Farmers. Although she was not the first, she was known as the "senior Queen" of the Flying Farmers because she made the office into one of responsibility for public relations and good will promoting the family activities of the organization. She traveled promoting flying and farming, being behind the Iron Curtain to Russia twice and was a member of the one of the earliest all farmer groups to visit the Peoples Republic of China in 1977. Mrs. Paul was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Paul is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Nevada; and a son, Dean Arthur Paul of Columbia, Mo. She was preceded in death by a brother Hugh Arthur.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Nevada United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Wagner officiating. Burial is in the Nevada Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Paul's name.
The Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, is in charge of arrangements.
