Kermit F. Johnson
Jan. 14, 1909 to Oct 8, 1996Kermit F. Johnson, 87, of Tucson, Ariz., died of pneumonia on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at his residence.
He was born Jan 14, 1909 in Nevada to Walter G. and Ida Mae (Converse) Johnson.
He had lived in Arizona since 1958. He was employed as an agent for the FBI from 1943 until 1974, serving in Atlanta, Ga., Charlotte, N.C., Springfield, Ill., and Arizona. He served as a senior resident agent in Tucson until his retirement in 1974.
He was married to Hazel Marie Hamilton on March 12, 1935 in Adel. He was active in the Tucson Chapter of the Society for Former Special Agents of the FBI, the Downtown Rotarians and he was an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, K. Bryce Johnson, of Danville, Calif.; a daughter Mary F. Johnson, of Anchorage, Ala.; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including LaVon Tjelmeland of Roland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, in 1995.
Memorial services were held Oct. 11 in Tucson. Burial of the ashes took place in Nevada at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kermit and Hazel Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University, Tucson, Ariz. 85705. Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, handled local arrangements.
