Frances Irene Handsaker
July 27, 1908-June 21, 1998

Frances Irene Handsaker, 89, of Hubbard, died of pneumonia Sunday at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with the Rev. Ellen C. Taube officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Frances Irene Handsaker was born in Nevada, the daughter of Vern and Bess (Klump) Proctor. She earned a teaching certificate from Ellsworth Teaching College and taught in a country school. On Dec. 24, 1926, she married Harold "Pete" Handsaker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fernald. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Nevada community. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was active in church and community activities.

Survivors include one son, Dean Handsaker of Nevada; one sister, Ruth Sowers of Carterville, Ill.; one brother, Robert Proctor of Redding, Calif.; six grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one grandson.

Visitation is today from 3 to 8:30 p.m., with the family present from 7 to 8:30, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church.
