Mary Swalwell, Former Jasper resident, Dies

Mrs. Charles (Mary Eva) Swalwell, 85, of Maxwell, a former Jasper County resident, died Sunday at the Story County Hospital in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Survivors are five daughters, Esther Brown of Maxwell, Helen Hagge of Ogden, Alice Meyer of Newton, Doris Dockery of White Lakes, Minn., and Harriett Good of Rhodes; 32 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in March, 1978.

The daughter of William and Elizabeth Gardner, she was born April 1, 1893 in Jasper County.

She attended Jasper County Schools.

She was married Dec. 15, 1915 in Jasper County. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1978
