OBITUARY

Merlin P. Soderstrum

KELLEY--Merlin Peter Soderstrum was born in Palestine Township near Kelley Aug. 31, 1890 at the farm home of Peter and Elizabeth Soderstrum.

Dec. 5, 1913, he was joined in marriage to Elsie Lowman and the young couple settled on the farm which has remained their home for 42 years. Three boys, Maynard who died in infancy, Wayde and Lowell were born to the couple.

Sept. 29, 1954, Merlin Soderstrum suffered a sever stroke which confined him to a hospital bed for several weeks and to his home much of the time thereafter.

He died May 12, at the age of 64 years, eight months and 11 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Mrs. Fred Watts, and his son, Maynard.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, his sons, Wayde of Kelley and Lowell of Slater; four grandchildren; two brothers, Guy Soderstrum of Luther and Floyd on the home place, and a sister Mrs. George Fuller of Laurel.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Napier Methodist church of which Mr. Sodertrum was a member. Burial was in Story Memorial Gardens cemetery, south of Ames.
