Jan. 10, 1909 to 1999

Florence J. Leeper, 90, of Nevada, died of congestive heart failure Thursday, Dec. 23, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada where she had been a resident for past five years.

She was born Jan. 10, 1909, in Moore, Okla., to John and Eulalia (Phillips) Williamson. She married Louis (Bob) Leeper in 1925 at Estherville. Florence retired in 1985 from the Purchasing Department of Iowa State University and had also employed at the Nevada Journal, Story County Treasurer's Office, was a matron at the Story County Sheriff's Office and co-owned Leeper Feeder Pigs with her husband. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Chapter AM PEO. She enjoyed ISU sports, cooking and was well-known as a caterer for many Nevada groups.

Survivors include two sons, Bob and Dave, both of Nevada; a daughter, Betty Sheehan of Carroll; five grandchildren, Mike, Steve, Kit, Jared and Brittany; two great grandchildren; a brother, Mervin Williamson of LaMiranda, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, on July 10, 1964; a daughter Janice Egland in 1955; a grandson, Dan Sheehan in 1978; six brothers and one sister.

The body had been cremated and memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 27, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Private cremains interment was held at Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist Church Kitchen Fund. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
