Funeral services for the late Mrs. Elizabeth Gallagher, 86, who passed away Monday evening at her home in Nevada, were held at 3 p. m. Friday afternoon at the Morfoot funeral home, with the Rev. J. W. Williams of Gladbrook officiating.

Many beautiful flowers surrounded the casket testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held.

The singers were Mrs. Elmer Anderson and Mrs. Grace Kirk with Miss Elaine Anderson at the organ. "Abide With Me" and "Seek Thee Thy Rest" were sung.

The pall bearers were nephews and grand nephews: Ross White, Donald White, Glen White, Glen Olson, Robert Bamford and Richard Lounsberry.

The following obituary was read by the officiating minister:

"Elizabeth Jane, daughter of Samuel and Mary White, was born in Indiana Sept. 4, 1859. The family moved to Iowa in 1864 and settled in Story County where the father bought a farm near Colo. The children grew to maturity in the farm which later became the family home seven miles southeast of Nevada, where Elizabeth attended the rural school. She later took training in the State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and took up the profession of teaching, which she followed for many years in her home county and also after her marriage in Nebraska, where she met her future husband, J. D. Gallagher, an attorney, at Elwood, where they were married in 1886.

Three children were born to them: Guy W., now of Nevada, Iowa, Mrs. Rae Sorensen, deceased, and Mrs. Alta Martin of Santa Monica, California.

The family lived for a few years at Chanute, Kansas, on a farm where Mr. Gallagher died in 1916 after which the widow and children returned to Nevada, Iowa where they had formerly lived before going to Kansas.

Mrs. Gallagher's remaining years were spent in the old paternal home of Third street in Nevada, where she died very suddenly after only three days illness from a paralytic stroke, her death occurring Jan. 28, 1946, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Early in life she was baptized and remained a faithful Christian the rest of her life, always gentle, hopeful and cheerful, a faithful and loving wife and mother.

Besides her two living children she is survived by one grandchild, Jan Sorensen Harding of Omaha, Neb., two great grandchildren, four brothers, Samuel M., Homer T. and Turl of Nevada, and A. A. White of Colo. Also many nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives, all of whom will hold in loving remembrance one who was universally respected and beloved.

Relatives from out of town in attendance at the last rites were the daughter, Mrs. Alta Martin of Santa Monica, Calif; the grand daughter, Jane Sorensen Harding and her father, Dr. Walter Sorensen of Omaha, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. John Marsh of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Marsh of Toledo, Ross White, Mrs. Bert Olson, Mrs. Walter Bamford, Mr. and Mrs. Glen White, Mrs John Lounsberry, and members of the pallbearers, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Torry, Beulah Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Witmer, Mr. and Mrs. Joe White, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert White, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Banks.
