Final Rites For Mrs. L. E. Appelgate Held Tuesday, Dec. 7
Mrs. L. E. Appelgate, was born near Nevada, Iowa, Dec 12, 1882, and passed away at her home south of Nevada on Saturday evening Dec. 4 at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 22 days.
On June 11, 1900 she was united in marriage to Lewis Applegate and to this union two daughters were born.
She was an active member of the Evangelical U. B. church for many years and was faithful in its varied activities until ill health compelled her to retire from those activities, yet her interest was ever alert in the work and welfare of the church of her choice. She has been in ill health for a number of years, and she spent the last year and a half in bed.
After this long period of suffering she was released and passed on to be with her God at 11:35 last Saturday night. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, two daughters, Thelma Applegate and Mrs. Lloyd Finger of Nevada; one grandson, Bill West, of Nevada, on brother Hubert Applegate of Nevada, one sister, Mrs. Guy F. Atkinson of Nevada also a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 7 from the Evangelical U. B. church at 2:30 with the Rev. E. R. Walter officiating.
Miss Kathleen Hanson was at the piano playing appropriate selections during the service.
The casket bearers were Al Spivey, Cyril Stratton, Wm. Shickell, Ora Stemler, Ezra Meyers and James McDaniel.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
