Story City Pioneer,
Died Tuesday

Story City, May 9--Pete Peterson, 64, former Story City postmaster, died at his home Tuesday morning after a lingering illness.

He was born on a farm west of Story City were he lived until he retired and moved to town. He held the position of postmaster for nine and a half years, resigning in January of 1944 because of ill health.

Mr. Peterson was well-known in baseball circles several years ago as an outstanding pitcher, having played with the Boone, Ottumwa, and Waterloo leagues, and many semi-pro teams.

He is survived by his wife and son, Arnold of Story City, two brothers, L. A. Peterson of Story City, and Hans P. Peterson of Niagara, North Dakota, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Anderson and Mrs. Henry West of Story City, and Mrs. Will W. Nelson of Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon with a short prayer service at the home at 1:30 followed by services at the Grace Evangelical church at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. E. Ulrich will be in charge, and interment will take place in the Story City cemetery.
