Luella Mae Christianson
NOV. 26, 1908-OCT. 4, 1998Luella Mae Christianson, 89, of Story City, died of a stroke Sunday at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Chruch in Story City, with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.
Luella Mae Christianson was born in Story City, the daughter of John and Emma (Anderson) Paulson. In 1936, she married Bert Christianson in Galena, Ill. They operated Lu's Cafe in Story City for many years in the 1950's. She also worked as a cook at Story City Memorial Hospital for more than 23 years, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Christianson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Story City for more than 70 years. She served as a volunteer for the Story City Senior Citizen's Center, was a former member of the Center Cemetery Society and a former member of a Rook Card Club, and enjoyed bowling until she was 80.
Survivors include three children, John Christenson of Story City, Sally Christenson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Alan Christenson of Nevada; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, one daughter and one step-great-grandson.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8, at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.
Memorials may be made to her church or to the nursing home.
