Funeral Services Saturday for Amelia Hans
Miss Amelia Hans, 77, maiden lady who had been a resident of Nevada for nearly 35 years, died at the Story County Home Thursday afternoon.
She had been in failing health for over a year and had finally been take to the county home for care.
She was a daughter of the late Andrew Hans, who had the family home for many years at 1144 K avenue, where the parents died, the father passing away in 1928 when about 95 years of age.
The daughter continued her home there for a number of years, but finally sold the property and bought a small home on North Third street, where she lived until it became necessary to move her to where she could be better cared for.
She was a longtime member of Memorial Lutheran church and the women of that church looked after her needs in many ways during the latter years of her life.
The family was originally of Oxford Junction, where Amelia Catherine was born January 23, 1865, one of ten children. The family moved to Newton in 1892 and there they lived for about fifteen years, before locating in Nevada, where the parents died and Amelia spent the rest of her life.
The only member of the family now living, so far as is known here, is a nephew, George Hans of Brooklyn, who is here to arrange for the funeral and burial services. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Morfoot Funeral Home, with her pastor Dr. J. O. Simon in charge. Burial will be at Newton.
