Thomas Jefferson Neal was born in Ohio, June 6, 1853, and passed away at his home at Clyde IA., Sunday Jan. 13, 1931 at the age of 77 years, 8 mo. and 12 days. He was the son of St Ledger and Nancy Neal, the family moving from Ohio to settle near Collins years ago.

He was united in marriage to Abbie Sanders on May 17 1879, and to this union 9 children were born. Two daughters, Mrs Flossie Rude and Mrs Estella Haley, and a small son 5 years old preceded him in death. He leaves to morn his loss, his wife, one son, Milo Neal of Newton IA.; five daughters, Mrs Elda Teed of Collins, Golda Fleming of Buffalo, Okla., Grace Stump of Van Meter IA. Velva Henning of Lake View IA.; Christina Osborn of Mingo and three brothers, William of Hastings Ne., Peter and Mark of Mingo. Thirty one grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Two grandchildren Dora 8 years and John Rude Jr. 6 have made their home with and have been cared for, Mr and Mrs Neal since birth. Their mother, Flossie Rude passed away when little John was but two weeks old.

Funeral services were held at Ashton Chapel Wednesday Jan. 21 at 2 O'clock with Rev. Simmons of Mingo officiating. Internment was in Ashton Cem

The pallbearers were grandsons as follows; Ed Jr., Elmer and Wilber Haley, Harvy Teed, Eldon Clement, and George Osborn.
