Marvin Robert Egeland, son of O. Helmer and Violet Egeland, was born May 18, 1941 at the home of his parents near Story City. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Radcliffe. He graduated from Randall High School in 1960 and then entered military service in the U.S. Air Force.
On Oct. 26, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Rude of Huxley. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, the couple lived in Story City for seven years, during which time they became members of St. Petri Lutheran Church.
At the time of his death, Nov. 4, he was employed by the Marathon Pipeline Company of Powell, Wyo. and was on assignment in Baton Rouge, La.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn and son Aaron Robert; his mother, Mrs. Violet Egeland of Story City; and three brothers: Lorlene Egeland of rural Story City, Arnold Egeland of rural Boone, and Irving Egeland of Rockwell City. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Powell, Wyo. on Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. A memorial service was held at the same date and hour at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with the Reverends Rolfe S. JOhnstad and Perry V. Sampson in charge. Mrs. Joel Jacobson was organist, and Gary DeGeest, soloist.
