Julia A. Swenson
Julia Andrina Swenson, 94, of Story City died Friday, May 17, 2002 of heart failure at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Manor with the Rev. Stephen Anenson and Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial was at the Story City Cemetery.
Julia Andrina Swenson was born Dec. 25, 1907 in Gilbert, Iowa to Lars and Annie (Haugland) Tesdall. She lived most of her life in the Story City area. She worked as a housekeeper at the Story City Hospital and Bethany Manor Nursing Home. She married Archie Swenson on Jan. 6, 1926. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and the Ladies Aid. She made many quilts and collected dolls of all kinds and enjoyed displaying them.
Survivors include one son, Paul Swenson of Oskaloosa, Iowa; three daughters, Delores Carpenter of Napa, California, Mary Taylor of Carson City, Nevada, and Carol Morris of Homedale, Idaho; four sisters, Helen Severseike, Hazel Lybarger and Alice Smuck, all of Story City, and Lena Barkema of Jewell; two brothers Abel Tesdall of Jewell and Harris Tesdall of Ames; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Harold Swenson and William Swenson; one daughter, Lois Turkngton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Skare and Clara Rikensrud; and four brothers, Lawrence, Arthur, Don and Abel (another Abel) Tesdall.
