Archie Swenson, 72, of Story City, died at his home Thursday evening, Dec. 20.

He was born June 23, 1902 at Radcliffe to Ed and Mollie Swenson. On January 6, 1926, he married Julia Tesdall.

He was employed by the Story County Road Maintenance department until his retirement in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; two sons, William of Osh Kosh, Wisc., and Paul of Webster City; four daughters, Lois (Mrs. Harry) Turkington of Chicago, Delores (Mrs. Charles) Carpenter of Napa, Calif., Mary (Mrs. Roger) Taylor of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Carol Morris of Spokane, Wash.; twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three brothers, Amos of Webster City, Forrest of Council Bluffs, and Howard of Radcliffe; five sisters, Mamie Hodnefield of Radcliffe, Selma, Elsie, and Irene Swenson of Radcliffe, and Bertina Raney of Ft. Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Harold, who died in World War II, one grandchild, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Burial followed in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
