John E. Blake, age 87, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 .

He was born at Washington, Iowa on July 6, 1925, the son of Ralph Blake and Lilas Shopbell Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard Blake and Keith Blake.

He was Presbyterian in his faith. John was a World War II Navy Veteran and in April of this year he and fellow Marshalltown World War II veterans participated in the honor flight to Washington D.C.

John and Barbara were owners of, Maxwell, Iowa's own, "Blake's Coffee Cup". You may have enjoyed a piece of homemade pie in which he made!

John is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Blake; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dianne Blake and Bob and Janean Blake; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 19 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, Iowa with Reverend Ian McMullen officiating.
