Glenn Dale Bader
February 11, 1927 - July 1, 2011Glenn D. Bader, 84 of Nevada passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, in Nevada, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Burling officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Glenn Dale Bader was born on February 11, 1927 to Daniel and Kathryn (Burkhardt) Bader in State Center, Iowa. He attended Nevada schools and following school Glenn joined the Army. Glenn was a WWll war veteran. After the war Glenn returned to Story County where he lived for his entire life. On June 13, 1959 he married Marilyn Thorson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Glenn was a farmer and worked for Donnelley Marketing for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. He also was a carpenter, building many houses in the Nevada area. He was a member of the VFW post 2209. Glenn had a great love for his grandchildren, collecting padlocks, keys, and many other flea market items, fishing, his dogs Maggie and Ivy, and telling stories.
Those left to cherish Glenn's memories are his daughter, Kay (Vern ) Fleshman of Nevada; grandson, Michael (Courtnie) Fleshman of Inwood, IA; two granddaughters, Mary Ann Fleshman of Ames, and Addie (Dwight) Hinson of Ames; six great-grandchildren, Easton Fleshman, Emmitt Fleshman, Eaghan Fleshman, Elliss Fleshman, Nyla Hinson, and Jabari Hinson; and many neighbors and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and infant brother.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Nevada First Responders.
Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Glenn and his family.
