William Keith Slaybaugh
August 23, 1929 - July 3, 2011

William Keith Slaybaugh, 81 of Nevada died on Sunday, July 3 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8 at the Memorial Lutheran Church Chapel, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. A luncheon will follow immediately with burial of the cremains at 2:30 p.m. in the Highland Township Cemetery, rural Bayard, Iowa.

Keith was born on August 23, 1929 in Bayard, Iowa to Wilfred and Thelma (Forsman) Slaybaugh. He was a graduate of Bayard High School. Keith served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lucille Hubbe and to this union 2 sons were born, Dave and Steve. When Lucille died in 1976, Keith married Alice Borcherdt on December 23, 1977 in Ames. He retired as a mechanic for Coover Chevrolet after 30 years of service. Keith was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and the Bayard American Legion. He was known as a hard worker always willing to help and volunteer.

Keith is survived by his wife, Alice Slaybaugh; 2 sons, Dave (Eva) Slaybaugh and Steve Slaybaugh, all of Nevada; 2 granddaughters, Catherine and Brandy Slaybaugh; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Rose; 2 sisters, Delores (Bruce) Berner of Rifle, CO and Donna (Bob) Walker of Des Moines.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lucille in July of 1976.

A memorial fund has been established in Keith's name.
