Larry Ray Olson
February 23, 1949 - March 13, 2012

Larry Ray Olson, 63 of Story City, formerly of Nevada died on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 7th Street in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Interment of the cremains will be held immediately following in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery Columbarium.

Larry was born on February 23, 1949 in Jewell to Clifton O. and Jane D. (Severson) Olson. He was a 1967 graduate of Nevada High School. On April 6, 1996, Larry married Claudine K. O'Connor in Story City. He retired from General Telephone Company in October of 2011. Larry was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife Claudine K. Olson of Story City; his mother Jane Olson of Nevada; two daughters, Stephanie (Dale) Hadsall of Roland and Joy (Tim) Weatherman of Maxwell; a step-son Lance Scheele of Parker, CO; six grandchildren Trent Weatherman, Tanner Weatherman, Jenna Weatherman, Drew Bartmess, Noah Bartmess, and Francis Hadsall; two step-grandchildren Samantha Scheele and Bradley Scheele; and a sister Christy (Randy) Walker of Nevada.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Cliff on May 24, 2000 and a sister Connie Jo Olson on May 14, 1981.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15 from 5-7:00 p.m. again at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Larry for the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames or the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Larry and his family.
