Don Richard Heintz
November 1, 1933 - April 1, 2012Don Richard Heintz, 78, of Nevada, formerly of rural Cambridge, died on Sunday, April 1, 2012 with his loving family by his side at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4 in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1110 11th Street in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Don was born on November 1, 1933 in Story County, Iowa to John Harold and Elsie May (Presnell) Heintz. He was a 1952 graduate of Shipley High School. On February 20, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Alma Marie Wirth at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilbert. He loved being a farmer to the land. Don moved to the family farm near Cambridge in 1941 where he lived until becoming a resident of Windsor Manor in May of 2011. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada and served on the St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery board. Don was a loving, dedicated family man and also enjoyed woodworking.
Don is survived by his wife Alma of Nevada; two sons, Dennis (Kimberley) Heintz of Cambridge and Rodney (Christine) Heintz of Ames; two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Renze of Manning and Ann (Ed) Guild of Audubon; eight grandchildren, Israel (Brandy) Walker, Rebekkah (Lance) Harding, Adam Heintz, Joseph Heintz, Jennifer (Josh) Linde, Steven (Erin) Renze, Bradley Renze, and Ryan Renze; seven great grandchildren, Garrett Renze, Kael Renze, Olivia Linde, Kara Harding, Rio Walker, Milo Walker, and Atticus Walker; two brothers, Dean (Jane) Heintz and Larry (Lois) Heintz, all of Nevada; two sisters, Marjorie (William) Baum of Des Moines and Nancy (Richard) Vincent of Story City; two sisters-in-law, Juanita (Max) Olson of Cambridge and Dorothy Heintz of Nevada.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wayne, Marion, and Max, and four sisters, twins JoAnn and Barbara in infancy, Mary and Betty.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3 with the family present from 5-8:00 p.m. again at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge Fire Department, or the Food Pantry.
