Pearl Huntrods

Pearl Vivian Huntrods, 97, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada with her loving family by her side.

Pearl was born May 19, 1914 in Flaxville, Montana, the daughter of Fred Walter and Alice Pearl (Brooks) Chitty. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to Vernon Edwin Huntrods on January 1, 1936 at the Collins Methodist Church. Vernon preceded Pearl in death on December 29, 1979. Pearl had been a homemaker, but had also worked at Donnelly's Marketing in Nevada and Swifts in Clinton. Pearl was a member of the Nevada First Christian Church and the Richland Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, gardening and crocheting. Pearl loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Pearl is survived by her five children: Norman (Betty) Huntrods of Nevada, Iowa, Judy (John) Selheim of Castle Rock, Colorado, Stan (Vicki) Huntrods of Marshalltown, Iowa, Steve Huntrods of Nevada, Iowa, Saundra Huntrods of Ankeny, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Scott Huntrods, Eric Huntrods, Laura Selheim, Chris Selheim, Jason Huntrods, Shelly Huntrods, Mary Huntrods, Nathan Huntrods, Megan Huntrods, Alex Eyanson; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; and three brothers: Roy Chitty, Russell Chitty and Vernon Chitty.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14th. at the Nevada First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials may be made to the Nevada First Christian Church.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
