Jeanne Coverdale, age 59, died from breast cancer at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, on September 14, 2011.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at St. Patrick's Church in Nevada, Iowa, Rev. John Herzog and Pastor Myron Herzberg, celebrating.

Born September 18, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Joseph & Pauline McDonald, Jeanne graduated from Iowa State University, worked in retail and hospitality sales, eventually starting a business in Nevada, Iowa, called Block Party Studios, catering to quilters worldwide. She married Michael Coverdale on April 29, 1978. Together they helped raise dozens of foster children, refugee children and international students. Jeanne loved and was beloved by her local & international quilting community. An Irish citizen by decree, Jeanne loved her ancestral homeland and was a frequent visitor to the Emerald Isle.

Survivors include husband, Mike; brothers P.J. (Claudette), Clive and Tom (Lois), Independence, Missouri; her international children by heart, especially Adamu Ibrahim, and Hiep & Hien Le; and dozens of beloved nieces & nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, John (Kathleen).

Memorials can be made to the Israel Family Hospice House.
