Cambridge, Iowa

Ione Elizabeth (Miller) Lewis, 82, of Cambridge passed away Monday, September 5, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Ione was born October 1, 1928, at Ames, to Oscar and Daisy (Kitchen) Miller. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1946, and was united in marriage to John Lewis on January 24, 1953, in Ames. Ione was a homemaker and a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge. Ione enjoyed her family, the Atlanta Braves and crossword puzzles.

Ione is survived by her sons, Mark (Eileen) of Cambridge, Steve (Becky) of Huxley and David (Jamie) Lewis of Cambridge; her daughter, Kathy (Larry) Shaeffer of Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2006; two brothers, Ralph and Donald; and her sister, Edith Jacobson.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge with inurnment to follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Family will greet friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday, September 11, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Online condolences may be left at www.BaconFuneralHomes.com
