Ella Iola Thompson

BORN: June 3, 1910
DIED: November 27, 2010
LOCATION: Boone, Iowa

Ella Iola Thompson was born June 3, 1910 to Carl John and Tillie Amanda (Birkeland) Jacobson on the family farm just west of the Roland Cemetery. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. Ella graduated from Roland High School in 1928 and attended Iowa State College. She married Noel John Thompson in April 1, 1933 in Roland. Ella was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church where she sang for many years in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, baking and playing the piano. Ella loved her flowers, especially African Violets.

Ella passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Westhaven Communities in Boone at 100 years of age.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann (James) Anderson and Kathie (Gary) Reinertson, all of Boone; five granddaughters, Pamela Anderson, Amy Anderson, Emma (Adam) Westrum, Amanda Reinertson, and Melissa Thompson; two grandsons Robbie Thompson and Adam Thompson; one sister Helen Ritland of Story City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Michael; two brothers and their wives Carroll (Edith) Jacobson and Amos (Nora) Jacobson; one sister and her husband Florence (Floyd) Christian; and one brother-in-law Earl Ritland.
