Anna Christenson

BORN: July 4, 1921
DIED: November 26, 2010
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Anna J. Christenson, 89, of Ames, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 1 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames with Rev. Todd Stiles officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Anna was born July 4, 1921 in Boone County to Marion and Opal (Johnson) Sigmund. She grew up in Boone and lived most of her life in Ames. Anna worked 20 plus years as the business office supervisor at Mary Greeley Hospital and then with Ames Pathology Lab until her retirement. She married Burlin Curtis Christenson on Oct. 26, 1946, in Peoria, IL. She is survived by her children; Sharon (Richard) York of CO., Michael (Karen) Christenson of Ankeny, Ronald (Linda) Christenson of KS and Denise (David) Waldo of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ward and brother, LeRoy (Joan) Sigmund. She was preceded in death by her husband Burlin, daughter, Sandra Light and brothers, Logan, Roscoe and Dean Sigmund.

Memorials may be directed to First Family Church in Ankeny.
