MRS. ELIZA WELLS
Eliza Hannah Hunt was born in Henry county, Indiana, November 7, 1843, and died at her home near Maxwell, Iowa, May 27, 1920, aged 76 years, six months and 20 days. At the age of sixteen she came with her parents to Iowa, locating on a farm near Peoria.
She was united in marriage with Harvey F. Wells at Peoria, Iowa, in 1864, and to this union seven children were born, five of whom survive her, viz.: Frank G. Wells, of Peoria, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Ifert of Ingalls, Ind.; Richard Wells of Mossion, So. Dak.; Mrs. Maude Maxson of Portland, Ore., and Earl Wells of Peoria.
Deceased was of Quaker origin, religiously, her parents being members of that society. After her marriage she affiliated with the M. E. church at the Calamus school house in Indian Creek township, of which her husband was a member. Her husband preceded her in death twenty-seven years ago.
Mrs. Wells lived a quiet, humble, unassuming life, with the love and respect of all who knew her.
Besides the children she leaves to mourn their loss ten grandshildren and two great grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Adeline Kulow of Peoria, Iowa; Mrs. Lena Swain and Mrs. Sarah Cooper of Mechanicsburg, Ind., and Mrs. Phoebe Black of Palm Beach, Fla., and many other friends.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Protestant church at Peoria, Sunday, May 30th, conducted by Rev. C. J. Nutt, of Des Moines. Interment was made in the beautiful Peoria cemetery by the side of her husband and two children.
