From Story County Watchman January 6, 1905

DIED--On Sunday morning, Jan. 1, 1905, Mrs. J. A. Jeffrey at her residence in this city. Sarah Caroline Vance was born in Casstown, Ohio, July 2, 1851. She was married to Dr. Jeffrey in April, 1870, and they moved to Nevada from Corning, Iowa, in 1886, where she has since made her home.

Since the age of 15 years she has been a primafy Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Methodist church and at one time was the secretaty of the International S. S. Association. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon and Tuesday the remains were taken to Corning, Iowa, for interment the funeral being by Rev. Nye of the M. E. chruch of this city assisted by Presiding Elder Smith, an old time friend and acquaintance of the family. She leaves her husband and daughter to look to the meeting in the future. Her daughter, Mrs. Goodenough, of Colo; sister, Mrs. Emma Scholtz, and son of Lincoln, Neb.; Rev. Geo. Jeffrey, of Chicago; Miss Sadie Wilson, of Marshalltown, were here from a distance in attendance at the funeral.
