She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McLain and was born in Ogle county, Illinois, July 28, 1851. She came with her parents to Story county when she was six years old and settled on the McLain farm in Filford township. There she grew up and was married October 3, 1871, to Mr. Confare, who servives her. They continued to live in Milford township until nine years ago this month, when they moved into Nevada, where thy have since resided. Besides her husband Mrs. Confate leaves her brothers, Turner and George McLain, her sister Mrs. Roan McClure and her three daughter, Maud, now Mrs. Howard Dawson, Blanche, now Mrs. H. R. Klove, and Eloise, the youngest and at home.

Mrs. Confare was a woman of exceptional attractiveness, and her friends were limited only by her acquaintance.
